About WREN

WREN is a social enterprise and community with representation from women all across Canada. WREN is accessible and peer-driven, setting a Canadian standard for women’s empowerment by facilitating access to supportive peers, industry experts, and networking events (online and in person). WREN envisions women creating and building relationships that help them move on to more informed and confident investing, and to form collaborative partnerships in Real Estate, business, and life! Through their connection with WREN, many members choose to participate in a multitude of active or passive investments. We’re better together!

WREN members have experienced many cultures in their work and travels and no matter where we are from or where we go, we all want the same things:  to be loved, to have freedom, to feel connection, and to be part of a community.  We work collaboratively with organizations that share this mindset.

What is a Social Enterprise?

Social enterprises are revenue-generating businesses with a twist. Whether operated by a non-profit organization or by a for-profit company, a social enterprise has two goals: to achieve social, cultural, community economic and/or environmental outcomes; and, to earn revenue.

Liza Rogers

For over 25 years Liza has been passionately involved in what is now being called “the cohousing movement”. Liza’s deep and diverse background in tourism and events—including leading groups on world-famous European river cruises, managing Eco guesthouses in Bondi Beach Australia, and being employed by two Olympic Games—has cultivated and honed her gift for integrating work, travel, and fun. Whether sharing, managing, or owning property, Liza accumulated an abundance of experience accommodating students, travelers, and people relocating geographically. In addition, for over four years Liza lived successfully on cruise ships—perhaps the greatest example of co-housing on the planet!

As a single woman with a long-term lifestyle of overseas work contracts, Liza experienced a tough spot several years ago when she attempted to buy a home. So, in order to get into the real estate market, Liza discovered she had to do some homework and get creative! This started her journey of discovering everything possible about financing, joint ventures, and buying real estate. With a voracious appetite for learning and a gift for connecting people, Liza has amassed a wealth of information and wisdom—both past and current—about real estate sectors both inside and outside Canadian borders.

As the Founder and Leader of WREN, Liza feels compelled to provide opportunities for others, especially women, to find their own creative and collaborative ways to learn about and prosper from real estate and related markets. She loves to share this information with other women so they can learn, be confident, be inspired to take action, and FUN’d their futures through real estate.

Among her many achievements, Liza has produced two successful Victoria Real Estate Expos, she is currently in the process of purchasing a portfolio of investment properties with a group of women—and enlightened men—and she has set up a fund to create and construct more affordable co-housing and rental options for people across Canada.

Chrixy is an experienced Digital Marketing Specialist and Communications Officer with a history of working in the legal services and Real Estate industries. Chrixy is an accomplished media and communication professional skilled in art direction, television, Adobe Photoshop, video editing, and social media. She has a degree in journalism and is currently completing her Masters in Multi-media Arts.

Wendi Rottluff

Wendi is a small business owner who has spent the last ten years providing financial, technical, and administrative support to local businesses.
 
Wendi loves to volunteer with organizations that are near and dear to her heart including the BCSPCA  and BC FIRST Robotics.  When not online, you will find her out and about in our beautiful Sunshine Coast backyard - hiking, kayaking, and snowshoeing are her favorite modes of exploration.

Geoff Gosson

Geoff has had a wide range of diverse experiences including a career as a naval officer, a degree in engineering physics, owning an event planning company, and leading a Real Estate marketing team. His skills include project management, graphic and web design, video editing, copywriting, strategic communications, and digital marketing. He's also a certified drone operator and loves capturing the beauty of the west coast whether for recreation or storytelling for a WREN project.

Cheri is a real estate agent with Royal LePage Coast Capital Realty, a real estate investor, a former Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and a current Certified Professional Consultant on Aging (CPCA) (previously known as Certified Senior Advisor (CSA)).

She has been on the faculty of the Canadian Academy of Senior Advisors, training other professionals on the health, social and financial aspects of ageing.

Jorian de Vries

Jorian has been involved in Real Estate for over 35 years in various capacities starting with the family business. He's currently involved in the management, development, buying and selling of Real Estate. For the past 22 years Jorian’s day job has been in mortgage financing as a broker and a lender.

He started his mortgage broker career with Scotiabank arranging residential mortgages and subsequently moved to DLC Commercial Capital Inc to focus on the commercial market. Jorian represents clients to lenders both private and institutional for commercial financing and in some cases, residential mortgages.

In addition, he helps those clients that do not fit the traditional bank profile find private funds to meet their goals. Occasionally he provides second mortgage financing behind an institutional first mortgage to help the client make a deal work.

It is Jorian's goal to help his current clients grow their real estate holdings and to help new clients get started. He also works hard to keep growing his pool of private funds and to expand his network of investors. His investors include: friends, family, current and past clients, real estate investors and people looking to diversify into Real Estate.

Jorian’s office is a CMHC approved correspondent and can assist clients navigating the process to apply for and fund CMHC-insured multi-family mortgages for purchase, construction and refinance.

Jorian is happy to speak to members about their deals and what they can expect for financing.

Karen Stewart

Karen Stewart

Having lived in Campbell River since the age of 5, Karen knows the community well. She has been with CNB since 1993 when she started as a receptionist. In 2012 she obtained her CA designation and became a partner in 2014.

Karen enjoys working with small to moderately sized businesses and corporate groups to help them navigate all the ups and downs faced by business owners. She also provides business advisory services to those looking to buy or sell their business, those wanting to transition into retirement by bringing in new ownership (children), and to individuals who are looking to start a business of their own and want to figure out if they should incorporate. She will work with you to help you understand your business better to make informed decisions.

She embraces the CNB philosophy of giving back to the community and has volunteered for several non-profit organizations over the years. Karen currently volunteers as the Treasurer of the Rotary Club of Courtenay. In 2016, Karen was a proud recipient of a Future 15 award from the Campbell River Chamber of Commerce which recognized 15 young professionals making a positive impact in their community.
